First, we had an open position for junior copywriter, and Blair Freeman filled it. In fact, she filled it so well she’s no longer “junior.” Get to know her better along with us.
Are you getting into costume (or have you already) for Halloween? As what/whom?
I always have big aspirations for Halloween until the day before when I find myself in Michael’s wondering what I could make from pipe cleaners, Sharpies and a T-shirt. Last year I was hoping to do a cute couples costume with my husband and when I asked him what we should be he said, “I don’t know … all I have is a cow onesie.” To my shock and surprise that was the only costume I had too. So we were both cows last year and that’s probably what we’ll be for a very long time.
What did your five-year-old self aspire to be when you grew up?
When I was five years old graduating from kindergarten our entire class participated in making an end of year video where we were all recorded answering the question: What do you want to be when you grow up?
My response was simple: a good friend.
And how does that relate to what you do now?
I’d say that being a good friend is an important part of the job I do now. When I’m a good friend I’m also a good listener. I’m empathetic and can gain insight into human truths about life. When I really get to know people’s desires, hopes and dreams, it translates into my role as a copywriter.
I can write more effective copy that speaks to the heart. A lot of the ideas and insights I have come from living an intentional life outside of work as well as in the office.
If you were a breakfast cereal, what would you be and why?
If I were a breakfast cereal I would be leftover pizza. My whole life I’ve never been fond of breakfast foods in general. So I’m not ashamed to say that I’d reach for last night’s leftovers before a box of Cheerios.
My most controversial (non-political) opinion is …
Cows are the cutest animals and steak is the best food. Cows were always my favorite animals growing up because of the ones we had at my family’s ranch. At the same time, a medium rare steak has always been my favorite food. A lot of my friends and family make fun of me for this. What can I say? I love cows in all forms.
On a Sunday morning, you can find me …
Going to church with my husband followed by a post-church nap.
No matter the season, what’s your go-to drink order for a special occasion?
My go-to drink order for a special occasion is without a doubt a Moscow mule! I love ginger beer so much, and I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of them. I’m realizing now my cow obsession is really coming through in my responses; but, for our wedding, we had bride-and-groom cocktails, and mine was famously named the Moscow-moo.
