4 Colorado-Based Sustainable Companies We Love

by: Abigail Jackson

This Earth Day, whether you’re snapping a pic from your favorite hike or fighting with a paper straw, here’s one small but mighty way to make a big impact: be mindful of where you spend your money.

Supporting eco-conscious brands doesn’t have to mean compromising on style, comfort, or quality. These four Colorado-based companies are making it easier than ever to live sustainably while keeping things local.

1. Tellus

Based in southern Colorado, Tellus designs outdoor gear and apparel using responsibly sourced and recycled materials. Even better? They donate 100% of net profits to environmental causes like coral reef protection and reforestation. If you’re hitting the trail this Earth Day, gear up with purpose.

This downtown Colorado Springs cooperative brings together local artisans creating handmade, sustainable goods. Eclectic Co-Op champions a more human-centered, waste-conscious approach to retail.

3. Coolerado

In terms of “doing it differently,” no one is innovating quite like Coolerado. As a heating and cooling company in a field that contributes to sustained amounts of energy pollution, Coolerado “emits energy savings of up to 80% compared to reverse cycle air conditioning,” according to their website. This can drastically reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

4. Sheena Marshall

As a Denver-based brand and woman-owned small business, Sheena Marshall is the primary creator of each piece of jewelry. The use of “small batch production” with their recycled materials utilizes every piece of metal and minimizes waste. This kind of care and attention reduces the environmental impact while reinforcing ethical labor practices.

Bonus story: Colorado Springs Utilities

Founded in 1924, Colorado Springs Utilities is a non-profit utility provider local to Colorado Springs with an emphasis on reducing costs for customers and keeping the community safe with reliable service. As our client, we have worked very closely with Colorado Springs Utilities in multiple campaigns such as “Smallfoot: Big Energy Savings with a Small Footprint” and the “Water Wise Rules” campaign.

These four Colorado brands prove that sustainable living starts with mindful choices. This Earth Day, support the businesses that protect the land we call home and encourage others to do the same.
