You’re going on a road trip. Where are you headed?

I’m typically headed to the first area that is significantly different from the place I’m leaving. Changing scenery offers me a different perspective and that feeling of escape, even if it’s only for a short time.

If you could bring back an artist from the past for one last show, who would it be?

Elvis Presley, he died when I was six and I was a big fan at the time. He inspired me to play guitar at a young age and I would have loved to see him in his prime.

You’re going toe-to-toe in a cook-off with Bobby Flay, and you pick the dish. What are you making?

Standing Elk Rib Roast. I figure Bobby is a city guy and wild game is going to be my only competitive advantage, FTW.

If you’ve ever had a celebrity encounter, who was it?

I went to see the original Batman movie in 1989, a 3 p.m. matinee in Milwaukee. Sitting in front of me were four guys with a lot of hair, not all that unusual in 1989. However, I was holding tickets to see Metallica for later that night, and immediately realized I had the full band sitting directly in front of me! Thirty seconds before the end of the movie, they subtly break for the emergency exit, so I followed and jumped on the tour bus for autographs.

What is the best form of potatoes?

Without a doubt, it is a potato dumpling under a thick blanket of gravy. Rooted in Sweden and Germany… My great-grandfather from Czech had carried this version of the recipe to the United States and it is still a favorite food for our entire extended family.

What’s Denver’s best-kept secret?

I don’t live in Denver, but the award-winning Chef Alex Seidel of Fruition is a Wisconsin guy and offers a fine dining menu that includes Walleye, Cheese & Pabst. All staples of the Midwest, it’s an excellent restaurant.Vladimir Jones is Colorado’s original independent, integrated advertising agency, with offices in Denver and Colorado Springs.
