New Braunfels Utilities teams up with Vladimir Jones in the evolution of a three-year communications strategy and marketing plan

New Braunfels Utilities partners with independent agency Vladimir Jones to assist in the development of a three-year strategic communications and marketing plan

March 14, 2024Vladimir Jones announced today that it has been selected as the agency appointed to develop and consult on a three-year strategic communications and marketing plan for new client New Braunfels Utilities (Texas), a municipally owned utility priding itself on strengthening the local community by providing resilient essential water, wastewater, and electric services. Vladimir Jones, a full-service, 100% women-owned, proudly independent agency will also assist New Braunfels Utilities with immediate public relations services and communications needs.

New Braunfels is now considered one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. According to Census data, the population has grown by more than 15% since 2020. The city’s growth is as impressive as its origin story: shifting from a humble settlement founded by a German prince to a rapidly expanding city. New Braunfels’ record growth comes with the expectation that New Braunfels Utilities continues to power and meet the current and future demands of the community.

“Having seen the growth and expansion of our community, we decided that now was the appropriate time to develop an impactful communications plan that meets the needs of our customers and community in a more impactful way,” commented New Braunfels Utilities CEO Ryan Kelso. “I believe that NBU can provide impactful, authentic and transparent services to the community with the help of Vladimir Jones’ strategic expertise and innovative creative vision.”

This partnership between New Braunfels Utilities and Vladimir Jones comes during a challenging period when utility customers in Texas are frustrated, confused, and apprehensive about what the future holds. High commodity costs, the state of the world, and the current economy are causing worry among utility customers across the state. Even though media consumption is continuing to increase, today’s U.S. adults are more distrustful of information sources than ever before. During times like these, NBU is even more vital than ever.

“We are thrilled to partner with New Braunfels Utilities,” said Vladimir Jones President Debbie Frickey. “Together, we’ll help bring their mission to life, with the development of a strategic communications and marketing plan that creates and helps cultivate impactful connections between a magnificent community and the municipally owned utility that powers it.”

New Braunfels, a once-quaint town that was famous for its Schlitterbahn water park, saw a staggering 56 percent growth over the past decade. Newer residents to New Braunfels have been drawn to the picturesque community for its affordable cost of living and by larger employers who have settled there, including several distribution centers and tech companies. In response, NBU has an aggressive capital improvement project plan to build and enhance necessary infrastructure to ensure they are prepared to meet the community’s electric, water, and wastewater needs for generations to come.

Vladimir Jones’ work in the utility category has won awards for effectiveness from The Chartwell Group, E Source, the Business Marketing Association, the American Marketing Association, the PRSA, Facebook and the American Advertising Federation. The agency continues to break new ground in the utility category by leveraging their strategic expertise, data-driven decision-making and innovative creativity, which has proven vital in bridging connections between a utility provider and modern energy consumers. With the ever-changing utility industry, Vladimir Jones will also immediately assist NBU in navigating this evolving landscape of opportunities, complexity, and challenges.
