One Utility’s Bold Commitment to Community

We recently launched “Today We Work for Tomorrow,” a new, multimedia campaign that portrays Colorado Springs Utilities’ (Springs Utilities) work to ensure reliable and safe electric, natural gas, water and wastewater services for generations to come.

Springs Utilities has committed to cutting its carbon footprint by 80% before 2030 by increasing renewable energy, incorporating energy storage resources and retiring coal generation. The utility also has plans to provide a sustainable water supply for a growing region through innovative ways to manage demand, integrate reuse and develop new water supply and storage.

“Our goals support the spirit and vitality of the city we serve,” said Mark Murphy, customer and workforce communications manager for Springs Utilities. “The Today We Work for Tomorrow campaign represents a continuation of our commitment to community in the way we work and the way we communicate.”

The Colorado Springs metro area is home to some 650,000 people, and it’s growing. Also, covering some 200 square miles, Colorado Springs has the largest footprint of any city in Colorado.

We are so proud to be a partner to Springs Utilities, especially considering how many on our team depend on the organization every day by virtue of living in the city. Also, this campaign is a living, breathing recognition of the diligence and dedication that go into sustaining our community’s essential services. We all use these resources, and we all have a role to play in working for tomorrow.

Videos and imagery pair with voiceover and copy to emphasize how Springs Utilities works hard to support its Pikes Peak neighbors:

Today, we work.

For your nursery, to ensure there’s a water supply for future generations.

For B-sides, powered by renewable energy.

For family recipes, with innovative ways to help you save at home.

For Colorado Springs, as we cut our carbon footprint by at least 80% before 2030.

Today we work for tomorrow, because this is our home, too.

VJ worked closely with the Springs Utilities communications team to achieve consensus on the campaign concept. A Collective Us was the production partner on the work.
